BACK TO BELARUSSIAN JEWISH ROOTS (Itinerary II)

Itinerary II: Brest - Pinsk - Turov - Pripyatski Reservy - Mozyr

Day 1

Arrival in Brest. Check-in at the hotel Intourist. Lunch.

Sightseeing tour of Brest (founded in 1019) which was the center of Jewish communities of Great Lithuanian Principality (14th-17th century). The first Belarusian stone synagogue was built there. You will learn the history of Brest Kaghal.

Visit to the Brest Fortress Memorial, famous for the unparalleled feat of its defenders in World War II. Later on the fortress received the title of Hero-fortress.

Day 2

Breakfast.

Departure to the city of Pinsk. Accommodation at the hotel.

Lunch.

Tour of Pinsk, the old Belarusian city founded in 1097. The town used to have many schools where subjects were taught in Yiddish and Hebrew. Pinsk is a native land of M.Kol, I.Naidin, G.Galperin, S. Roenbaum. City tour includes: Hassidic functioning Synagogue, Old Jewish cemetery, Site of execution of Jews, the Jesuit College (17th c.), Catholic Church (16th-17th c.), Franciscan Monastery (16th-17th c.), visiting places connected with Khaim Weizman, the first President of Israel (1948-1952), he was born in the neighboring town of Motol and got education in Pinsk; Golda Meir, the first Prime-Minister of Israel (1969-1974) lived in this city. Visit to the Synagogue, meeting with Pinsk Jewish Community.

Evening voyage along Pripyat river by boat. Dinner.

Day 3

Breakfast.

Departure to Pripyatsky Reserve (the river Pripyat with its flooded oak forests on the banks, black storks and grey cranes, unique biological environment of Polesie marshes and the opportunity to watch migrations of aquatic birds is considered to be the Queen of Polesie. The National park is situated at 250 km to the south from Minsk and covers more than 83 000 hectars).

On the way stop in a small town of Stolin. Visit to the places, connected with Jewish Heritage.

Arrival in Turov. Visit to the museum of Nature.

Arrival at the tourist center Khalupinska Buda.

Dinner.

Day 4

Breakfast.

Departure for sailing along the Pripyat river. Observation of picturesque environment.

Arrival at the island for a picnic. Cooking uha (special fish soup), shashliks, various brands of local meat and others. After picnic free time.

After returning to the tourist center you will have an availability to visit Russian "banya".

Day 5

Breakfast.

Departure for a walking tour along ecological routes of the virgin forest. On possibility observation of wild animals and birds. Visit to the "tsar-oak".

Lunch-picnic in the forest (on opportunity with meat of wild boar baked on fire). Time at leisure.

Day 6

After breakfast check-out. Departure to Mozyr (by boat on request). City tour with visit of sites of Jewish Heritage.

Lunch.

Departure to Kiev.
